Eat Your Way to Glowing Skin

 In Uncategorized

Many of us desire to look radiant and youthful, but long days at the office, stress and lack of sleep, among other factors can keep us from looking like sun-kissed youth. Rather than sinking countless dollars into beauty products and routines, discover what gives you a true and all natural youthful radiance—from the inside out. The popular phrase “you are what you eat” holds a great amount of truth. Skin is the largest organ in the body and helps us rid our bodies of toxins and chemicals through our pores, so it only makes sense that what you put into your body will ultimately be reflected through what shows up on our skin.

Here are a couple of key foods that hold the powerful nutrients and vitamins that are necessary to give your skin that beautiful and youthful glow.

Salmon: Wild Salmon, to be exact. Salmon is loaded with essential Omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial in managing cortisol levels. Keeping cortisol levels in check helps keep the skin plump and gives protection from wrinkles. Since our bodies don’t produce these fatty acids, we must obtain them through our diet.

Pineapple: The ultimate glowing skin food. Not only does pineapple contain collagen-boosting and toxin-removing qualities, it also improves digestion, which allows foods to break down easier leading to less backup of food in the gut. Less backup means better overall circulation and less bloating.

Tomatoes: These little fruits (yes, fruits) are one of the best food sources for anti-aging properties due to the fact that they contain the antioxidant lycopene. Tomatoes also contain Vitamin C, an essential for keeping your skin’s elasticity in tact by aiding in the production of collagen.

Spinach: Filled with antioxidants, Vitamin B, C, and E, Potassium, Calcium, and even omega-3 fatty acids; it’s hard to go wrong with this power food. Next time you have a salad, trade that watery lettuce for nutrient packed spinach!

Avocados: Avocados are filled with Vitamin E and antioxidants. This helps fight cancers and free radicals, which cause premature skin aging. Try pairing this Vitamin E packed super food with a Vitamin A food in order to receive the greatest benefit as Vitamin A actually aids in the absorption of Vitamin E.

And finally, don’t forget to drink lots of water, and exercise regularly in order to achieve maximum glowing and thriving skin!
